These are just some of the common questions our clients, who are Starters, ask us.

We are helping them achieve their goals, let us help you too.

Can I afford financial advice?

Is it ever too early to see a financial adviser?

I've got no money, how do I get started?

Should I rent or should I buy?

Should I buy an investment property or my first home?

Is property or are shares more appropriate?

How do I buy my first home?

Can my parents help me to get started?

Would a bank lend me money?

How does the First Home Owners Grant work?

Starters

Who is a Starter?

You’re probably in your late 20s or early 30s. You may have completed tertiary education, could be living either at home or with friends, and are possibly starting a career or family – even both. You may have travelled extensively (and worked overseas), and also sought out other kinds of personal development and life experience.

But to date, your goals have likely been more career than money focused, and only recently have you become aware of the ticking clock and the need to “do something” about your finances so that you can lead the life you want. This will mean different things to different people, but could include travel, buying a home or holiday home, dining out regularly or overseas holidays.

The fact you’ve done little or nothing about your financial future (or maybe did but suffered a temporary setback) means you’re what we call a Starter. You are starting out on the road to being Financially Well and becoming Financially Independent.

It is never, ever too early to start making decisions to achieve those goals. Because the kind of life you’d like to live tomorrow totally depends on the financial, lifestyle and career decisions you make today.

What can you do?

It’s important to first of all talk to someone who can directly relate to your situation. The John Hopkins Group has thirty years of experience in advising people in similar circumstances as yourself. Your John Hopkins Group adviser  may be living in similar circumstances to you, be of the same generation, and with comparable financial – even personal – goals.

The only difference is that he or she will also have the knowledge and experience to coach you on your financial and personal strategies.

What does the John Hopkins Group do?

Our advisers start by spending time with you, gaining an understanding of your present position, as well as your objectives and aspirations.

They know everything about tax, savings and investment, debt (including HECS), superannuation and lifestyle issues – such as buying your first home. All of these must be considered, balanced then managed.

They will explain everything in straightforward language, without resorting to financial jargon: how we work, how we’ve helped other clients, and what kind of results you can expect.

The John Hopkins Group places great emphasis on education, but does not lecture. Rather, we discuss the options available, spend time building your knowledge base, and explain how everything works so that you can confidently and comfortably make decisions in the future.

What is your Financial Strategy?

Your adviser will help you decide on your short, medium and long term goals, out of which will grow your own unique personal Financial Strategy.

This strategy will be regularly and rigorously reviewed over the years to ensure its continuing relevance with regards to your changing circumstances, the markets and the economy in general.

At all times you are encouraged to, and assisted in, putting that strategy into action, so that you are always Financially Well and that one day you can become Financially Independent.

What do you need to get started?

The belief that you need money to get started is wrong, and has stopped many people from taking that first all-important step – which is to do something. Without taking this step, you will never achieve your goals.

We will work with you on a no-obligation, fee-free consultation basis in order to get you up and started, so that we can build a long term relationship and work on your long term financial strategy.

For us, it’s an investment in your future, which we’re more than happy to make.

Call us now on 1300 726 082 to make an appointment to meet one of our advisers. Or click here and we will contact you. Whatever you do, don’t put it off. That will get you precisely nowhere.
