John Hopkins, Executive Chairman

With forty years in business, John has a wealth of experience in organisational management, business planning and marketing, and is a leading independent specialist in property and investment. John’s informed advice on financial planning, the market place, economic issues, investment and the property industry has assisted thousands of Australians to make decisions on securing their financial future.

John has been responsible for the management of over four thousand properties and five hundred body corporates at the one time. John Hopkins Group clients have purchased in excess of four billion dollars worth of investment properties in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

John has also been involved in the planning and development of many major property developments. He was the benefactor and founding chairperson of the Property Investment Association of Australia (PIAA), now the Property Investment Professionals of Australia (PIPA), a not-for-profit organisation established to represent all industries and professions involved with property investment.

An accomplished public speaker, John is in demand as a presenter for conferences, seminars, workshops and dinners and has spoken to a multitude of small and medium sized organisations. For many years John had continuing weekly programs on Melbourne and Sydney radio programs speaking about investment, property and general economic issues. He has written hundreds of articles for the print media throughout Australia and his syndicated column titled ‘Safe as Houses’ appeared in over a hundred regional and suburban papers for a decade or two.

John is passionate about the relationship of wealth and lifestyle, of the importance of attaining a balance between ones’ personal, occupational and financial interests, and the interdependence of the three. He has written the unique John Hopkins Three Circle Financial Planning Methodology.

Michael Williams, Managing Director

Initially starting his working career as a commercial and property lawyer in Queensland, Michael Williams eventually found his calling as a Financial Adviser. He made this decision because he wanted to help clients before they got in trouble rather than sort out their issues afterwards, as a lawyer.

After managing the Melbourne office of a national financial planning firm, he had the opportunity to partner John Hopkins. In 2004 they merged their two separate businesses to form a complete financial planning and property advisory service.

Michael provides financial services as an authorised representative (AR No. 222883) of WealthSure Pty Ltd (AFSL No. 238030). In addition to being an Authorised Representative, Michael is also responsible for the day-to-day running of the business. Over the last few years Michael expanded the business by establishing our Mortgages and Finance division, Accounting and Self Managed Super Fund Services, and late 2010 he established our latest service offering, our Property Management division.

Michael has been an instrumental part of developing relationships with other business people, and helping them build their businesses in partnership with John Hopkins Property.

Michael is an experienced public speaker and has presented many economic and business related topics to a wide variety of audiences.
